What’s your role at Headwater and how long have you been with the team?

My job title is Lead Designer and Project Manager. This means I have a couple of different aspects to my job.  I manage the turns for rental properties.  This part of my job consists of inspecting a property after a tenant moves out and then coordinating all contractors and ordering/delivering materials needed to get the property ready for the next tenant to move in.
I also am the designer and manager of the flip properties.  After we buy a property with the intention of flipping, I will create a design within the parameters of our budget and then manage all the contractors needed to complete the project.

Finally, I am one of the real estate agents that sell some of the flip properties and other properties that clients want to put on the market.

I have been working with the Headwater team since the beginning of the company!

What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is a little bit different.  However, I always review the night before what the next day's plan will be.  Most days consist of driving to various properties to either do move out inspections from tenants that have just moved out and creating a plan for that unit, or checking on a turn in progress to make sure everything is going smoothly, or delivering light fixtures/mirrors, etc that have just been delivered, or doing a final inspection of a turn so that it will be ready to lease, or checking in on the progress of a flip property to make sure everything is on schedule.

Since there are always multiple turns happening at once and sometimes several flips, this can lead to a busy day to just keeping up with what is going on at each location.  Also, throughout the day, I answer phone calls from contractors about different properties and schedules and other realtors for showings and questions about properties. Then, once I get home, I try to update all my notes on properties, make any new orders of materials that are needed, and get myself organized for the next day.

What’s your favorite part of working at Headwater?

The people at Headwater are truly one of a kind.  Each person has passion for helping others, working hard, and building each other up.  I feel like my strengths are valued and I am trusted to make decisions.

Do you have a favorite project or property you’ve worked on? Why?

Each new flip that I do suddenly becomes my favorite.  I really enjoy the process of starting a new project that really needs some love and giving it a new life.  If I had to pick one, I might pick the Little Brook house.  The transformation on that house was really amazing!

What’s something people might not know about your job or the Headwater team?

Because I have been with the Headwater team since the beginning, I have had the pleasure of doing many jobs.  As we have grown, my role has changed over time, but I have learned so much and truly enjoyed getting to learn about different aspects of the company.

What do you love about living/working in this area?

I have lived and worked in this area my whole life (with the exception of going to college).  I brought my husband back to my hometown because I wanted to be near family, raise my own family here and enjoy this amazing community.  Amazingly, my husband's family has also moved here as well because it is such a great place to live!

If you could give one tip to a new client (buyer, tenant, studio renter), what would it be?

Ask questions and be honest about your situation.  We are people who like find solutions.  The more we know, the more likely we can find a way to help.
